Inferno Nettverk A/S, Oslo, Norway Wednesday, May 16, 2012 Inferno Nettverk A/S is pleased to announce a new release of Barefoot - a free port-bouncer for UNIX. Barefoot is developed by Inferno Nettverk A/S, a UNIX consulting company located in Oslo Research Park, Norway. Inferno Nettverk specializes in services related to software development and porting on UNIX/Linux and embedded/real-time platforms. Please see http://www.inet.no/english/services.html for more information about our services. Barefoot is free software, available under a BSD-like license. Inferno Nettverk also provides commercial services related to Barefoot. These services include 24/7 support via phone and email, customized installations/tuning of Barefoot, development, porting and embedding. In addition to standard port-bouncing/port-forwarding functionality, Barefoot provides a fine-grained ACL-system, including support for PAM and TCP wrappers, support for UDP-traffic, extensive logging and accounting of network traffic, as well as the possibility of forwarding sessions via an upstreams proxy server. This release includes the following changes: o Three new modules are now available for the Barefoot server: - The Session module gives control over how many sessions different clients can create. - The Redirect modules gives control over what addresses and port ranges the Barefoot server will use on behalf of the clients for outgoing connections. - The Bandwidth module gives control over how much bandwidth the Barefoot server will use on behalf of the clients. See the module page "http://www.inet.no/barefoot/module.html" for more information about modules. Note that modules need to be purchased separately. o SIGINFO loginformation extended to include information about current buffering status and UDP latency. o Real-time scheduling priority settings and CPU affinity settings made available in barefootd.conf. o General API for setting socket options on TCP/UDP sockets used by Barefoot made available in barefootd.conf. o Non-IPv4 target addresses where not handled correctly by external.rotation. Reported and diagnosed by Rudolf Polzer See the NEWS file for a more complete list. Known problems: see the BUGS file. Users upgrading from previous versions: see the UPGRADE file.
