Version numbers and release schedules
Dante versions consist of three numbers in the format A.B.C. These numbers carry the following meaning:
- A.x.x - Architecture
The first number will remain 1 for the foreseeable future. A change would signify extensive changes, such as a change in architecture, a full redesign or rewrite.
- x.B.x - Major release
The second number is increased for each major release. A major release might introduce new features, behavior and include changes to the syntax of the configuration files.
- x.x.C - Bug fix release
The third number is incremented for each bug fix release. These releases contain mainly bug fixes to the corresponding major releases, but may also introduce minor new features. Changes to the configuration file syntax will only be made if this cannot be avoided. Code changes between bug fix releases are kept at a minimum.
A major release will be supported with bug fix releases until the next major release becomes available, and for at least 180 days after that.

Dante 1.2.x releases
The first Dante 1.2.x release was published in October 27, 2009. This major release will remain supported until December 31, 2011.
